01 · Overview

My own product, built end to end

Tackir is an AI-powered finance workspace for freelancers and small businesses in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. I designed and built it myself, and it is live at tackir.com.

02 · Problem

Compliance is heavy for small businesses

Freelancers and small businesses across the GCC now have to issue FTA-compliant tax invoices, track VAT and prepare for Corporate Tax. But full accounting software is expensive, heavy and built for accountants, not for the people actually running the business.

The result is spreadsheets, shoeboxes of receipts and a constant low-level worry about compliance.

03 · My role

Every role, from strategy to launch

As founder, I owned what to build, how it works, how it looks and how it ships, using AI as a design and engineering partner throughout. It shows how a single product leader can now take an idea all the way to a live product.

04 · Approach

Narrow the scope, then build properly

Product strategy

Narrowed the scope to the four jobs that matter most: issue compliant invoices, capture documents, track VAT and expenses, and see your compliance health at a glance.

Ship it for real

Authentication, billing, transactional email and production hosting, taken all the way to a live product.

05 · Key decisions

Calls that shaped the product

Four jobs, not an accounting suite

A narrow scope kept the product simple for people who aren't accountants.

Design system before screens

Every new feature stayed consistent as the product grew.

AI only where it removes work

Scanning, categorisation and a plain-language assistant, not AI for novelty.

06 · Solution

Four jobs, done simply

Compliant invoices

Invoices, VAT and Corporate Tax rules for the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, with the complexity kept out of the user's way.

Document scanning

Receipts and invoices extracted and categorised automatically.

Tax assistant

An AI assistant that answers tax questions in plain language.

Compliance health

VAT, expenses and compliance status at a glance.

07 · Outcome

A live product

A live product that turns a compliance burden into a few simple, guided steps, and a working model for how design leadership and AI can shorten the path from idea to shipped product.
